Watch a railway overpass being erected in just 48 hours under Nordecon’s guidance!

Eesti Raudtee granted permission for all rail traffic on the Tallinn-Keila line to be suspended for 48 hours on 19 & 20 July so as to allow the team from Nordecon AS constructing the connecting road between Juuliku and Tabasalu to erect a completely new railway overpass at the Topi intersection.

Innovative technology never before used in the Baltic States enabled the 325-tonne prefabricated concrete structure to be moved into its intended position. More than 10,000 m³ of soil works were performed and a new railway superstructure was installed on the overpass. More than 70 construction specialists were involved in the erection of the overpass during the 48-hour period.

Reedik Raudla, director of engineering construction for Nordecon AS, said that such an achievement was only possible thanks to the outstanding project management of the site team and the spirit of cooperation between everyone involved. “Time is of the essence when it comes to stopping traffic, particularly when it involves suspending railway traffic, so planning and precision management become even more important than usual,” he explained. “Luckily we were able to prove yet again that good teamwork means you can achieve things that at first seem almost impossible!”
